Flightful, an app that enables airline passengers to stay connected with text messaging on commercial in-flight wi-fi networks, has entered the closed beta testing stage. This free-to-use service has been developed by RebelRoamand isavailable for iOS and Android, with the standard service including text-based messaging on popular messaging apps including iMessage, WhatsApp, and Facebook Messenger.
Travellers can use the Flightful app to connect to the aircraft’s wi-fi network with a “one-click” login. According to RebelRoam, the app uses a safe and encrypted connection for all data to-and-from users’ smartphones. Currently, there are more than 30 airlines supported and an upgrade to full inflight Internet access is available for US$1.
Flightful app is in closed beta testing and will be available in the AppStore and Google Play in autumn of 2019.
