Recaro Aircraft Seating (RAS) has opened a new Logistic Center at its headquarters in Schwäbisch Hall, Germany. According to RAS, the center is an important milestone in its Space2grow expansion project, which envisages further investments in the construction at Schwäbisch Hall and at other locations, over the next four to five years.

RAS has invested €15 million (US$17 million) in the construction of the center, which at around 6,000m2 represents an increase in storage space of 50%, with a high bay warehouse that has space for almost 3,000 pallet bays, while the automatic small parts bay warehouse has 40,000 spaces. One of the key criteria in the planning of the logistics center was being able to react to future changes; with this in mind the entire building can be expanded as needs dictate.

“The opening of the new Logistic Center at our headquarters in Schwäbisch Hall is a big step in the future of Recaro Aircraft Seating”, stated Dr Mark Hiller, CEO and shareholder of RAS. “Investments like these should smooth the way to reaching our goal of strengthening market leadership in economy class and also being at the top in business class.

In addition to the logistics center, other construction projects are planned for the Schwäbisch Hall site, including a new development and test center with more than 3,000m2 for dynamic tests, and a laboratory for fire safety tests. A new canteen and more parking spaces for employees are also planned, as well as an events and congress center with space for up to 600 people.
