Acro – Stress engineer

Crawley (RH11), UK

Acro has an excellent opportunity for an experienced Stress Engineer with previous experience in aircraft seating / interiors or the automotive industry to join its fast-growing business.

Operating within the engineering department, the Stress Engineer will be accountable for the safe, reliable and optimized structural design of aircraft seats across multiple programs. Working closely with the Lead Design and Certification Engineers, the Stress Engineer will ensure that Acro's seating products meet the customer brief, regulatory guidelines and requirements. Structural integrity (strength and impact resistance), stiffness and weight are key considerations within this role.

This is a fantastic opportunity to develop and optimize the structural design of our seating products through performing complex linear and non-linear static and dynamic FE analyses, performing and documenting analytical hand calculations, and developing a “right first time” approach to engineering through analytical methodology, procedures and documentation.

To be successful in this position you will have:
• A Mechanical Engineering or related engineering degree
• Previous experience within aircraft seating, aircraft interiors or the automotive industry
• Worked within a development environment and closely with Design Engineers
• Extensive experience of using a non-linear FEA system
• Experience related to a mechanical engineering field utilizing CAD and FEA for product design, optimization and development
• Previous experience and confidence in applying fundamental engineering hand calculations, including determining load cases and stress / stiffness analysis
• Demonstrable experience of technical product ownership
• 3D CAD design engineering experience
• Excellent communication with the ability to build collaborative working relationships, both internally and externally
• Strong organization and coordination skill
